The life of Paul was dynamic, powerful, and full of the Spirit. His ministry produced most of the New Testament and the Church will forever rely on his influence. But behind every Paul is a Barnabas, someone who pushed Paul into the spotlight, empowering him to be everything he needed to be for the Kingdom. We too are called to be Barnabas' to others, giving our guidance and support. Pastor Devan talks on the qualities of a mentor that we would do well to emulate.

The Church has often be accused of being haters, judgmental, stiff-necked, and click-ish. We're seen from the outside as a group that can be hard to crack and are inhospitable to those who look and act a little different than us. The hard truth is, more often than not, they're right. The Church has always struggled with this, however, as Pastor Ken points out in this sermon. The early disciples were leery about welcoming Saul into their midst after his previous obsession with destroying the Church. Though some of their concerns were valid, we need to learn from this exchange that a life is never out of reach of the power of God and any can be transformed by His grace. Listen in as Pastor Ken encourages us to be the kind of church who welcomes everyone.

The conversion of Saul was critical in God's mission in reaching the world with the gospel. Through an obvious personal encounter which was confirmed by others, Jesus got a hold of Saul's life and never let go. At one point in our lives we will have to make a decision, as Saul did, about what to do with Jesus. How we respond makes all the difference and using the story God gave us to reach out is of great importance. Listen in as Pastor Ken explores the implications of these truths for our lives.

There's a phenomenon called the "ripple effect" that we've all experienced. You know when you toss a rock into a lake and the ripples begin small but grow as they reach out to the shore? The same principle was true of the early church. As powerful as the day of Pentecost was, the ripple effect was even stronger. Just as Jesus said, His disciples would be His witnesses in Jerusalem, Samaria, and all over the world, growing in strength as it went despite persecution. We can still step into this effect, experiencing the power that's still sweeping across the globe today!

The early church was unstoppable. It continued to grow in the midst of fierce persecution from all sides. This was possible because the Holy Spirit moved powerfully in the lives of every believer and the hope of the resurrection fueled them beyond their fears. So what about today? Do we encounter the Spirit the same way? Pastor Ken confirms that the Church is still unstoppable but that sometimes as individual believers we put up barriers that disallow the Spirit to work in our lives. Removing these barriers is the key to unleashing the Kingdom as God intends it!

On the day of Pentecost, 50 days after the resurrection of Jesus, the Holy Spirit was given to Jesus' disciples as promised. The appearance of Jesus to His disciples plus the indwelling of the Spirit turned a group of sheepish men into warriors for the kingdom of God. In this message, pastor Ken talks about the "who", the "what", and the "how" of the Holy Spirit and urges us to live up to the reality of the Holy Spirit's presence in our lives today as baptized believers.
